Leon Elmo Key The Artist

Visual language is “a system that communicates through visual elements.” This is the term that has been given to my body of work. My style is a fusion of numerous creative forms, including painting, photography, sketches, poetry, and a whole host of other things. Comprehensively said, it is a blend of media that have been integrated into a single work.

Over the past decade, I have been an exhibit designer for the City of Boston and City Hall with a focus on African American History and people from a variety of cultural backgrounds. My artwork has been spotted in the Greater Boston area, as well as in the Boston Public School System and libraries located in neighboring districts.

It is essential that we learn from the past in order to avoid making the same mistakes in the future. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, and Malcom X are some of the men and women from a variety of cultures featured in Black History. Despite the fact that Black History Month has always been significant to me, remarkable traditions are honored and celebrated every day of the year. It is noteworthy to express that all different backgrounds are equally valued.

Children, young, and old cannot afford to lose sight of our history. The vast majority of people forget about those who gave their lives and worked hard so that everyone else has what they do now. It was the people of the past who made sacrifices in order to establish the foundation for the privileges that we enjoy today.
